The research means boozy blokes who pull ugly girls on nights out now have the perfect excuse.

The findings support the beer goggles theory of drinkers jumping into bed with someone they would never normally consider while sober.

Experts believe alcohol stimulates the striatum, an area of the brain that plays an important role in attraction. They say a tipple or two also makes us think about sex and boosts our own self-confidence.
