When I first saw this 'saison' being chalked onto the board at Prime 16, I knew I had to order one of the first beers from this freshly tapped keg.
Typically I'm turned off by beers, or anything for that matter, that includes a foreign word in the title. Why not just say season?---- that's a topic for another day... As it was so fresh, I couldn't resist.
I didn't find out till later that 'saison' is actually a type of beer that originates from the farmlands of France. Brewed for the harvesters, this beer is incredibly refreshing, and you can imagine drinking it during a long hard day of manual labor. Although it had citrus elements similar to a Belgian Wheat, its overall flavor profile mostly closely matched that of an IPA.
Very easy drinking-- this will be a go to spring beer for me.
